Watch Care

General care tips for all watches

Keep the watch away from moisture. Most vintage pieces are no longer water-resistant, even if stated on the case.

Remove before showering. Do not store your watch in the bathroom, as humidity can cause damage.

Avoid wearing the watch while exercising or playing contact sports.

Avoid direct contact with perfumes, lotions, and other chemicals that may damage the finish or strap.

Remove before sleeping to prevent accidental damage.

Store your watch in a closed box or pouch when not in use to protect it from dust, sunlight, extreme temperatures, and scratches.

Do not attempt to service or open the watch yourself. Always bring it to a trusted watch shop for any maintenance.

Do replace the watch battery as soon as the watch stops working, or show signs of slowing down. Delayed replacement might cause damage to the watch.

Clean gently with a soft microfiber cloth, such as a spectacle cloth, to maintain its appearance. Do not use any chemicals or abrasive materials for cleaning.

For Watches with Date Indicator

Watches with a date indicator may require manual adjustment, as months have different numbers of days.

If the date is incorrect, pull the crown out one notch and turn it to set the correct date.

You may need to adjust the date once a month.

For Solar Watches

Solar watches (e.g. Citizen Eco-Drive, Seiko Solar) charge using light, stored in a rechargeable cell (no battery changes needed).

5–6 hours of direct sunlight or under a bright lamp can power the watch for up to 1 month.

Regular wear or room lighting helps keep the watch charged.

If not worn, do not store in complete darkness for long periods.

If the watch stops or the second hand is skipping (ticking every 2 seconds instead of every 1), place it under direct sunlight/lamp to recharge.

Avoid prolonged exposure to extreme heat (e.g. car dashboards).

For Mechanical Manual Winding Watches

Manual watches run without batteries and need to be wound daily.

Wind the crown gently clockwise, about 10–15 turns or until you feel resistance, then stop. A full wind typically lasts around 24 hours (depending on the model).

Wind the watch at the same time each day for best accuracy.

If not worn, the watch will stop—this is normal. Simply wind it and set the time before wearing.

Avoid overwinding and never force the crown.

Keep the watch away from strong magnetic fields and shocks.

For Automatic Watches

Automatic watches run without batteries and are powered by wrist movement, with the option of manual winding.

Regular wear keeps the watch wound; if not worn, it will stop—this is normal.

To manually wind, turn the crown gently clockwise about 10–15 turns or until you feel resistance, then stop.

Avoid overwinding and never force the crown.

Keep the watch away from strong magnetic fields and shocks.
